"Not yet, but we've already been evacuated." Ashley suddenly realized what was wrong. "Wait, you're in your office? Are you still in Zone S?"
The phone crackled, interrupting the call. Elara looked down at it and saw that the signal had been broken. A chill ran down her spine. Was it really an issue with the signal, or had someone done it on purpose?
She turned back to see that Eryndor had woken up without her noticing. His gem-like eyes were wide open as he stared at her silently.
There was no electricity, so the lights weren't on. The only illumination came from the shimmering water behind the glass—it outlined his cold, ethereal features, making him look like a spirit hidden in the shadows.
