I knew I had been out of line.
I gave her a small bow. "I'm sorry, my bad."
I was about to walk away when Madam Young's hand shot out, gripping my arm. "What was so funny just now?" she demanded.
What was so funny, indeed?
I could not shake off Madam Young's earlier comment. Taking a deep breath, I looked at her and said, "I wasn't really laughing at anything. It's just that some of the stuff I said seemed kind of funny to me. Idris and I? We've never been the type to hang on to each other. If I really wanted to, things wouldn't be going as smoothly as they are now."
"You..." Madam Young's face turned stormy, and she shot me a furious look before turning to Idris. "Did you hear that? That's how she talks to me. And you still think she's some kind of angel? She's so rude to me, yet you treat her like she's precious?"
Idris just scrunched his eyebrows together and kept quiet.
I was not trying to be rebellious or anything. Her words just seemed so over-the-top that I could not help
