Lucas did not dwell on it, though. He got the gist of our chat and settled in beside me, joining in on the conversation with the girls.
The cafe was alive with the hustle and bustle of patrons weaving in and out. I had been chatting with a couple of giggly girls when their friend showed up. He was a guy with a bit of a teddy bear build. He caught sight of us talking and gave me the once-over, his eyes lighting up for a moment before he plopped down across from me. "Hey there, are you from Lake City too? Are you with friends or alone? How about joining us tonight for some fun?"
The girls did not bat an eyelash at his arrival, instead egging me on to say yes. They turned to Lucas, all smiles, "Hey, why don't you come along? There's a music fest at Garden Square tonight. It'll be a blast!"
