Lucas gave me a soft smile, his eyes warm with affection. "Yvette, are you doubting my ability to protect you?"
I shook my head quickly. "No way."
He playfully squeezed my cheek. "Look, if you want to go, I've got your back. You don't need to worry about a thing. Oh, and did you skip dinner again tonight?"
