Lucas took his time before answering, giving me a long look. "Do you want the truth or a comforting lie?"
I smirked. "What's the truth? And the lie?"
"The lie is that I would do it," he said, eyes narrowing. "The truth? Maybe I wouldn't take her out right away."
I quirked an eyebrow. "Is there a difference?"

"Unless it's all or nothing!" He said it so calmly that I was momentarily taken aback. All or nothing... that was actually not a bad idea.
I did not respond, just zoned out, when he tapped my forehead. "Come on, let’s head back. I’ll whip up something tasty for you."
