I managed a few more spoonfuls, pretending it was no big deal. However, when Lucas tried to feed me again, I shook my head. "I'm full," I said.
He did not push it. With a small nod, he agreed, "Okay, we'll try again later."
After setting the bowl aside, he carefully eased me back onto the bed. I lay there, quietly taking in his every move, a mix of feelings swirling inside me.
