If someone were really set on finding out the truth, it was not that tough to start digging. I was clueless, however, about how deep Sir Young had buried his secrets, or whether Maxwell could even trace the breadcrumbs back to the Young family tree. That night, I tossed and turned, my dreams a jumbled mess.
I snapped awake to a world still shrouded in darkness. Tired but wired, I could not sleep anymore, so I dragged myself out of bed and trudged downstairs. The onset of a light rain wrapped everything in a cold, dreary blanket that weighed on me.
I turned on the floor heating in the living room and sat for a bit until I began to thaw out. Curled up on the couch, I switched on the TV, thinking I would kill some time since the sun had not risen yet.
