Jonathan took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving hers as he spoke. “I know things haven’t been easy between us,” he began, his voice tinged with vulnerability, “but I don’t want to give up on us.”
Anna felt a surge of emotion welling up inside her at his words, a glimmer of hope cutting through the darkness that had consumed her. She reached out to him tentatively, her hand trembling as she brushed his fingers.
