CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX: MISUNDERSTANDING
As Jonathan's departure date drew near, Anna couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of her stomach. He had been invited to attend a month-long conference overseas, an opportunity he couldn't pass up, but that didn't make the prospect of being apart any easier for Anna.
The night before he left, they sat together on the couch, Jonathan's arm wrapped around Anna's shoulders as they watched a movie. Anna tried to focus on the screen, but her mind kept drifting to thoughts of Jonathan being thousands of miles away.
"I'm going to miss you so much," Anna said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jonathan pulled her closer, planting a soft kiss on her forehead. "I'll miss you too, Anna. More than words can say. But I promise to call and text you every day, okay?"
Anna nodded, blinking back tears. "Okay."
