Chapter 126: The Cost of Ambition
Wilson leaned back in his leather chair, his fingers steepled under his chin as he watched his son, Ezra, stand at the head of the long, polished boardroom table. The meeting had gone better than expected. The board members, some skeptical, others cautiously optimistic, had listened to Ezra’s proposal with surprise and growing interest. Now, as the meeting drew to a close, Wilson could barely contain his pride.

As the last board member left, Wilson slowly rose, his lips curling into a satisfied smile. "Ezra," he said, his voice held with approval, "I must say, that was impressive. You've outdone yourself this time."
Ezra, still standing, allowed himself a small smile. He’d been holding his breath for most of the meeting, anxiety gnawing at his insides. Now, hearing his father’s praise, he felt so good. "Thank you, Dad. I’m glad the board seemed to like the idea."
