Chapter 3 Thank you for your cooperation
After dropping Lina off at the restaurant, Alan turned around and left.
Lina looked at the man standing at the window with his back to herself and spoke graciously, "Hello Angus."
Angus listened to the voice coming from behind him and didn't turn around, but asked indifferently, "You know I'm dying?"
"Yes." Lina answered honestly.
"Then why did you still promise your mother to marry me?" Angus slowly turned around.
This was the first time Lina looked at Angus so close, and for some reason, there was a familiar smell on him, a smell that perhaps she would never forget in her life.
This smell felt like the same as the smell on that night she did not want to call back.
But, she knew that it couldn't be him, maybe it was just the same perfume being used.
Coming back to her senses, Lina did not want to continue to act diplomatically with Angus, but stated her suspicion, "You are not sick."
This was what she surmised. The fact that he slept with the woman named Annie proveed that the rumors of his sexual impotence were false, and if he was really dying, the big family would definitely look for someone from a better family to be his wife for the sake of profit, so that he can continue to bring benefits to Bryan family after his death.
And she was chosen only because there was a promise between Dill's father, namely her grandfather, and Angus's grandfather. They promised to have their son and daughter marry each other, but both family had only sons, so the promise, then, carried over to Dill's generation.
Originally, after Lina's grandfather was gone, this matter can not be counted, but Angus's grandfather insisted that Angus's father must do so.
"You know all about it?" Angus was intrigued by this straightforward woman.
Since she had seen through, there was no need to pretend anymore. Since the woman was smart, it made things a lot easier.
"I guess, then, that Mr. Angus asked me to come here today to persuade me not to marry you."
The aura on this man was so powerful that there was no way for her to play mind games with under his aura, except for honest communication.
"Now that you know it all. What's your conditions? I will try to meet you whatever you say." Angus took two steps to the chair, hooked down the stool with his slender legs and sit down. He sit with his left foot on the right foot above the knee, and his one hand propped up the backrest of the chair, then he opened his mouth and asked.
Lina shook her head, "I have to marry you, I don't have a choice."
Angus thought that her smartness might make things easier, but the girl didn't look like she was going to make him feel satisfied.
His handsome features suddenly became condensed, and his ice-cold eyes on Lina were so fierce like an eagle staring at its prey.
"Mr. Angus, come on, we can talk." Lina spoke tentatively.
"I won't marry you. Only except for this, I can consider everything else." Angus' voice was like from a glacier, making her feel cold all over.
But she had to marry him!
"There's no way you can go against your father's wishes, and as I said, I have to marry you." Lina's hands were clenched in fists, trying hard to hide her nervousness.
Angus just looked at Lina faintly and did not answer.
"I mean, we can fake marriage. Once my thing is finished, I will divorce you, and you don't have to worry that I will covet your property. I can sign an agreement with you, I won't take any of your wealth after we divorce. Just give me one year, if my thing is finished ahead of time, we can get a divorce ahead, if not finished, the agreement takes effect one year later, and we could still get a divorce."
Lina's eyes were firm. She had no choice but to do so. She needed time to help her dad get back what belonged to him, as for the Bryan family's wealth, it did not belong to her, she never wanted to take away even a penny. All she wanted to get back was just what Dill deserved.
Angus had a sudden interest in this strange woman.
He wanted to know what such a thin woman, whose body contained such power, wanted to accomplish in a year's time.
Since she mentioned to make an agreement ahead, he was not worried that she would do anything to jeopardize the Bryan family, and she was a young girl and not capable of doing so.
On the contrary, the advice she gave was not a bad idea.
After the marriage, there was no reason for his father to disagree if the woman offered to end the relationship.
"Yes, the wedding will be held as scheduled."
"Thank you Mr. Angus for your willingness to cooperate. I've got to go." Lina finished her words and turned to leave.
The man was really confusing. Even he did not say anything and he just simply stood there, she could feel the pressure, which made her a little confused about the next to go.
