Chapter 83: The More Money, The Better
Charles cleared his throat and tried to suppress his earlier awkwardness.
"I understand, but the civil affairs office is closed these next two days. We’ll go when they reopen," he said.
Once Alicia heard Charles agree, she didn’t want to continue the conversation. She picked up the juice she had taken from the fridge earlier and went back to her room.
“Alicia!”
For some reason, Charles instinctively called out to her as he watched her walking away.
Alicia turned back to look at Charles with a calm and indifferent expression. Seeing her like that, Charles bit his lip lightly, and his hands clenched into fists. After a moment of hesitation, he asked,
"After the divorce… where are you going? I mean, after you and I separate, do you plan to… be with Townsend?"
Seeing Alicia’s confused expression, he quickly corrected himself.
"I didn’t mean to pry into your personal matters. I was just…"
"Never mind. Go get some rest," Charles muttered, embarrassed.
