Before Alicia could say anything, Linda mockingly covered her mouth, her eyes filled with sarcasm as she looked at Alicia.
“Oh dear, Alicia, I’m so sorry. It’s not that Charles didn’t want to be with you last night. There was just a little car accident, and he was worried about leaving me alone at home. That’s why he insisted on staying with me.”
“You have no idea how warm and comforting it felt when Charles held me in his arms last night.”
Listening to Linda’s taunting words, Alicia felt her stomach churning. She had already forced herself to eat some breakfast earlier, but now, with Linda’s provocation, she felt the food rising to her throat.
