"Don’t forget, Alicia is still my wife in name. What you’re doing right now is breaking and entering," Charles warned, his voice low and menacing.
Townsend, however, only chuckled dismissively.
"Charles, you know full well that wouldn’t hold up in court. Besides, from what I understand, you two are on the verge of divorce, aren’t you? Whatever she does now is her choice, her freedom."
As he spoke, Townsend carefully placed Alicia’s laptop into its bag, along with the various items she needed for her work. Once everything was neatly packed, he finally lifted his gaze to meet Charles', his eyes cold and challenging.
"I’m not breaking in. Alicia invited me to come over," he said smoothly.
"And besides..." Townsend paused for a moment, sizing up Charles with a sly, knowing look.
"Besides, a man like you, who abandons his sick wife in the hospital and even dismisses her only caretaker, can’t exactly call himself a good husband—or even a good man."
