Renee’s teeth clenched and she realized that being civil with Aurora was useless. It was getting dark,there was no light in the building. What if there were ghosts in this room? She shuddered at the thought of it. Just then,a thunderstorm broke out in the sky followed by an heavy rainfall. It got darker. She could see the lights far away but it was dark in here. It rained for a long time.There was no moon flight. The cold wind rattled the doors and windows as if there were ghosts crying. “No,Don’t.”Renee huddled herself up against the wall. She was afraid of the dark. Now she recalled why.At the time,she had thought Aurora was only playing with her but now,she realized that Aurora had meant to purposely scare her. When they were little, Aurora always told her stories about ghosts. One time, Aurora even acted as a ghost to frighten her.On that occasion,she had a high fever intermittently for a month and almost lost her life. Since then,she had not dared to walk alone at night. When Max access the CCTV,though they were none in the fourth building,but the CCTV in the environment captured Renee heading towards the fourth building. They quickly arrived there.The building was dark and deserted. Allegra rushed over and panicked. “If Renee really is in here,she must be scared to death.She’s afraid of the dark.” They hurriedly started searching each classrooms.They came by one which was locked. Dante kicked it down,Allegra hurried in with her cellphone torch in hand. They looked everywhere for Renee and finally found her shivering in a corner. Dante ran towards her and bent down. Renee who was shivering began to talk gibberish as he held her in his arms. She felt hot and feverish. “We need to take her to the hospital!”Dante announced. ******** Soon,they were heading for the hospital. Dante was at the back seat with Renee while Allegra was in the passenger’s seat. ********** Getting to the hospital,Renee was treated but she still seemed so out of it. She was unconscious but restless. She kept tossing in her sleep. Seeing her like this,Allegra felt distressed and wanted to move closer and hold her hand,but Dante took a quickly step. His big hand held her small hand and he whispered to her. “I’m here,Renee.Dante’s here so you don’t have to feel scared anymore.” His words worked and Renee gradually calmed down. Allegra breathed a sigh of relief and seriously looked at the man in front of her. Though, his appearances was a little frightening,she was somewhat relieved to let him take care of Renee because he looked genuinely worried about her. “Thank you,Mr Moretti.It’s getting late now.You can head back.I’ll stay here with Renee.” “I can’t leave her.”Dante informed Allegra.”I can’t leave her side.But you should go home and rest now.Max will send you home.I’ll take care of her.” Allegra didn’t refuse. Her clothes were soaked.If she stayed here,she might get sick. She nodded and thanked him. Dante nodded curtly at her. Allegra left him a good impression.He glad that Renee had a good friend in Allegra. Renee was having a bad dreams filled with ghosts,Aurora and Maria trying to hurt her. But she didn’t know when the bad dreams washed her. She felt her hand being held and her heart became calm. After that she was neither cold nor afraid,she slept,comfortably. Renee woke up with a headache. There was a pungent odor of sterilized water around her nose,which made her realize that she was in the hospital. Who brought her here? She was about to get up when she touched something with her hand. Looking down, she saw Dante. He was lying prone on the edge of the bed,still asleep. Her little hand was caught firmly in his palm. She knew now that it was his hand that warmed her all night. Did he stay by her side all night? She looked at Dante who was still asleep and she felt a slight softness in her heart. All the bad emotions she had last night disappeared without a trace with Dante by her side. She deducted that he had come to save her. Starting at his disfigured face,she didn’t feel a single fear about it anymore.
