Chapter 15 Who Is Your Recommendation
The next day, Olivia tidied herself up, had a simple breakfast, and went to Adams Corporation.
As it was her first day, she wanted to leave a good impression on her colleagues, so she arrived at the office early.
She had just sat down at the intern's desk when her neighboring colleague, Jillian Frost, greeted her warmly.
Olivia responded softly.
At that moment, Jillian suddenly said, "You're Mr Mack's niece, aren't you?"
Upon hearing this, Olivia was taken aback, and then replied, "No, I'm not."
Jillian looked at Olivia with a disbelieving expression and said, "It’s okay to tell me. I know that the intern position this time was already decided long ago for Mr. Mack's niece."
Olivia fell silent. She stared at the computer screen in front of her, unsure of what to say.

At this moment, there was a strong sense of tension in the HR department office.
"What's going on, Ms. Larson? Wasn't it settled that Dawn Mack would be the intern?"
Conrad Mack, the head of the financial department, looked displeased as he stared at Shannon.
Shannon couldn't help but frown. She said with an embarrassed look, "I'm really sorry. Miss Hall was also recommended internally, and she is just too outstanding."
Upon hearing this, Conrad's expression turned even darker.
After a long pause, he finally asked, "Who recommended her?"
"I can't disclose that."
Ms. Larson didn't even glance at Conrad. "Conrad, you should leave. I'm just following the protocol."
With that, Conrad left angrily.
In the financial department, Conrad walked into the office with a stern face.
As soon as he entered, his gaze fell upon Olivia's face.
Olivia looked up and saw a portly man staring at her.
A sense of unease washed over her, and she quickly reached for a cup on the table.
Conrad walked directly up to Olivia, his face filled with displeasure. "You're the new intern?"
Olivia quickly stood up. "Yes, I'm Olivia Hall."
"Come to my office." With that, Conrad turned and left.
Olivia stood there, motionless, feeling like she was in trouble.
Jillian also sensed that something was amiss and whispered to Olivia, "Olivia, you've taken away his niece's internship position. I'm afraid that you are in trouble."
Olivia stood there silently, feeling like her first job was about to end abruptly.
She opened her phone's voice recording function and walked straight into Conrad's office.
Conrad sat in his office chair, looking down at Olivia with an air of superiority.
He cast a cold glance at Olivia and said with displeasure, "I won't beat around the bush. Who recommended you?"
He couldn't understand who had recommended Olivia in order for Shannon not to give him any respect.
Olivia hesitated for a long time, unsure of what to say.
If she mentioned Alex at this time, not only would nobody believe her, but it might also raise suspicions.
She tightly gripped her clothes while pondering what to say.
Just as she was struggling, Oliver suddenly pushed open the door and walked in. "Conrad, could you take a look at the labor costs for this project?"
He hadn't finished his sentence when he suddenly saw Olivia and froze in place.
Olivia looked at Oliver awkwardly, feeling somewhat incredulous.
But then she realized that this was Adams Corporation, so it wasn't strange to encounter Oliver here.
Oliver smiled and said, "Olivia, what are you doing here?"
"I'm interning in the finance department." Olivia smiled awkwardly.
Oliver didn't think much about it. His gaze landed on Conrad, and he said directly, "Mr. Mack, please help look after her, she is a friend of mine from school.”
He had a look of hesitation on his face, and Conrad saw right through him.
The anger on Conrad's face disappeared instantly, and he quickly stood up before saying, "Mr. Adams, you don’t have to be so polite with me. Rest assured, I will definitely take good care of Miss Hall."
Seeing this, Olivia couldn't help but roll her eyes. It was such a pity that this guy didn't go into acting.
His change of expression was faster than flipping through a book.
After a moment of contemplation, Oliver said to Olivia, "Olivia, let's have lunch together during the lunch break."
Before Olivia could respond, Oliver gave her a slight smile.
Conrad, understanding the situation, quickly ushered Olivia out.
Back in her office cubicle, Olivia felt extremely frustrated. She wondered why she ran into Oliver everywhere she went.
With her head tilted, Jillian leaned over and asked, "Olivia, did you get scolded? Why do you look so troubled?"
Olivia shook her head and said, "No, it's just that the situation is much worse than getting scolded."
"Then did you get fired?" Jillian asked curiously.
Olivia shook her head again.
She didn’t know how to explain it to her. There was no way she would tell her newly met colleague that Oliver asked her out for lunch.
After some thought, she decided not to say anything.
Seeing that Olivia didn't want to talk about it, Jillian didn't continue to ask.
Olivia returned to her workstation and stared at the computer screen in front of her, but she couldn't concentrate on anything.
She was contemplating how to refuse Oliver's lunch invitation when her phone screen lit up. Olivia glanced down and saw that it was a message from Alex. [Come to my office at noon.]
She was speechless.
Olivia thought, ‘Are they deliberately plotting to make things difficult for me?’
Olivia took a deep breath and quickly typed, [I don’t have time. I need to work.]
Alex's response came quickly, [It's lunchtime, you don't need to work.]
Seeing that she couldn’t refuse it, Olivia decided not to respond any further.
She had been very cautious all morning and worked extremely diligently.
As a new intern, Olivia had been assigned by Conrad to learn about the company's corporate culture first, and then given some simple tasks.
When it was time for lunch, her colleagues left the office one by one to go eat.
Jillian came over to Olivia and said quietly, "Let's go have lunch together."
Olivia replied, "You go ahead. I still have something to do."
"Okay," Jillian said, then turned and left.
After all her colleagues had left, Olivia breathed a sigh of relief. She got up and left the financial department, following the signs indicating that the CEO's office was on the top floor.
Olivia couldn't help but wonder why Alex's office was placed so high up.
She had to take a private elevator to get there.
Finally reaching the top floor after some effort, Olivia found the CEO's office.
Milo was waiting at the door, and when he saw Olivia, he quickly greeted her, "Miss Hall, please come in."
Olivia pushed open the office door and smelled the aroma of food inside.
"Good day, Mr. Adams," Olivia greeted Alex with a very professional attitude as she walked towards him.
