Chapter Thirty-Three - Jessica
I pulled all of my clothes off and stepped into the shower.
I didn’t need a shower but my body needed to relax. I couldn’t keep my brain from moving around and suffocating anything rational I fed it.
These things showed up when I did.
Why? Why? Why?
The word rotated like a spinning record in my mind. It was stupid and self-centered to think that they wanted me. I wasn’t special. I had wolf in my bloodline but so did so many families in this area.
The bathroom door cracked open and Mason stepped into the room with me. Steam began to fog the air and I was thankful for it. Maybe he couldn’t see the turmoil on my face.
“Jessica,” Mason said close to the shower door. “Are you alright? You’re all over the place. Your emotions, they’re a lot.”
I scrubbed my face with my palms and let the hot water soak me. “I’m fine. I’m overwhelmed. It was one thing to see a wolf but to see him fight. He was fierce. Where did he come from? What would have happened if he hadn’t shown up?”
