Megan exhaled a heavy sigh, squeezing Giselle's hand reassuringly. “It’s okay, there are plenty of clients. They might be small orders, but they’ll add up. Plus, not all the wine is smashed, right?”
Surveying the chaos of shattered bottles and scurrying workers, Giselle replied, “Just wait here.”
Without waiting for Megan to protest, she strode purposefully out of the cellar, whipping out her phone to dial Henry.
He picked up instantly, his voice a raspy whisper: “So you’ve finally decided to call?”
The bitter sting was sharp, like biting into a raw lemon, making her chest tighten with discomfort.
She gazed at the distant Alps, taking a deep breath. “I need a favor.”
“Go on.”
“There’s a situation at Megan Vineyards. I heard you stockpiled a lot of our red last year. Any chance you could spare some? I’ll pay double.”
Silence stretched on the line, and then Henry’s cool, slightly amused tone filtered through, “You can have it—but you’ll need to come and get it yourself.”
