Chapter 152: Mockery of Motherhood
Henry barely took ten minutes to rush through his shower, emerging without even bothering to dry his hair.
Giselle doubted Henry had hardly used soap, given the brevity of his shower. She was certain the quality of his wash must have been subpar.
Yet, when he wrapped her in an embrace, the unmistakable fresh scent of his body wash enveloped her.
The next day was Saturday, a leisure day for both. Giselle opted out of her usual visit to the TV station.
It wasn’t long before the director called, his voice tentative through the phone, “Miss Lambert, will you be joining us today?”
Before she could respond, a deep, intimidating voice intercepted, “She’s not coming.”
With a decisive flick, Henry hung up and blocked the director’s number.
Giselle, who had just finished washing her hands, caught the tail end of the exchange. “Who was that?”
“Just a telemarketer.”
Her eyes narrowed as she placed her hands on her hips, staring him down, “The truth, now.”
