Chapter 296
Zachary went to take a bath.
Not long after, he appeared beside the bed in his nightgown. He held my hand and kept staring at the wound on my wrist with his profound gaze.
“Did it hurt a lot earlier?” he asked.
I answered honestly.
“It’s slightly painful. I almost forgot I had a wound and hit the bedside. It was so painful, and I almost cried.”
I never hid my fragileness when I was in front of Zachary.
I gave him a sad look and kept staring at him. He suddenly smiled and tapped my nose lightly.
“So clumsy. You knew you were hurt but still so careless.”
His soft voice gently uttered those harsh words. I looked at him with pitiful eyes as he sat down on the bed. I rested my head on his legs and asked, “Are you tired?”
He lowered his gaze at me.
“Not tired,” he replied.
There was no lingering sadness in Zachary’s eyes. His gaze was like a silent and deep pool. He always behaved like that. No matter what he encountered, he would remain calm and steady.
