Elinor, sitting in the dining room, still felt somewhat muddled in her mind.
"Margaret, I thought I heard someone knocking while I was napping this afternoon. Were you looking for me?" she asked.
Margaret was taken aback. She had been worried Elinor might be distressed, only to find she had been sleeping. "Yes, Ma'am. I've already called Mr. Adams. I believe he will help you recover your phone."
Mentioning the phone made Elinor feel somewhat embarrassed. How disgraceful it was to cry so much over a mere phone!
"That's alright. It's just a phone. Besides, I've backed up everything in it. If we can't find it, then it can't be helped. No need to waste resources on it."
She particularly didn't want to disturb Jaxson over such a minor issue. Their relationship was, after all, practically antagonistic. If Jaxson were unwilling to help, he might even leverage this situation to pick a fight with her tonight. Perhaps he would stand before her with a mocking laugh and a frosty demeanor
