Chapter 59 Premonition Coming True
Jaxson's gaze upon Elinor was so intense that it made her increasingly uncomfortable.
Leaning close, Elinor lowered her voice so that only Jaxson could hear. "I promised my friend I'd attend a concert with her today. If she sees me here with you, she'll be furious and might cut ties with me," Elinor whispered.
"Why can't you just tell her that you are coming to this concert with me? She could sit here as well," Jaxson questioned, unable to understand Elinor's line of reasoning. "If you're honest with her, I'm sure she'd understand."
Elinor was at a loss for words.
What could she say? Of course, she did not want anyone to know she was married to Jaxson, of all people. Jaxson was incredibly popular in all of Babington City, but he had numerous enemies. Associating with him could endanger her life, even if they were to divorce later.
Why would she put herself in such a vulnerable position?
