Jaxson let the issue go without further fuss. Lawrence cast a final glance at the still-slumbering Elinor before he departed. It was far too early, and Elinor was still lost in her dreams. It made sense to wait for her to wake up before taking her home. Besides, Jaxson would not dare lay a finger on her, not with the way things stood between them now.
Once he was off the estate, Lawrence dialed Sarah's number to let her know everything was okay.
Sarah exhaled a long-held breath of worry when she heard her daughter was safe.
She had feared that old grievances might lead Jaxson to seek revenge on Elinor, complicating matters further.
