Chapter 4
Deidre had been working in this field for many years, and she yearned for a life of luxury in high society.
Although many tycoons and rich playboys had volunteered to be her patron, Deidre knew very well that becoming someone's mistress was like being a bird in a cage. Once she went in, she would never be able to see the light.
If she wanted to join the upper society, she had to marry the heir of a truly wealthy family.
Deidre had been aiming for this all along, and today, she finally found the chance.
Charles had just spent 4.3 billion and bought an entire apartment block. He had to be the heir of a big family to have so much money at his disposal!
"Rue, hurry up and get Mr. Duncan his keys!" Deidre quickly commanded.
Only then did Rue recover from her shock and joy. She nodded and quickly left the reception room.
"Miss Chase, do you still think I'm bluffing?"
"What do you mean, Mr. Duncan? I was just concerned about you, that's all."
Deidre's attitude toward Charles suddenly became much more affectionate.
She took out a business card from her breast pocket and said with a smile, "Mr. Duncan, this is my personal business card. If you have any questions about property in the future, you can ask me. I'll definitely help you in any way I can."
Her fair fingers gently slid across Charles' palm.
Charles's bones almost turned to jelly. He thought to himself, 'She's such a seductress.'
He accepted Deidre's business card, which was still warm from her body heat. It was filled with Deidre's private social media handles.
Deidre teased him, saying, "You're really generous, Mr. Duncan. May I know what sort of business you're working on right now?"
Charles smiled. "I'm just a student. so I'm not running any actual business yet. I just happen to have some more than I can spend. It really is a headache."
Deidre gulped. If he could easily transfer more than four billion dollars as a student, he had to come from an incomparably huge family.
To think there was such a hidden mammoth in Jonestown! It seemed that she had yet to come into contact with the true upper echelons of the city.
"Mr. Duncan, the Jonestown Bay Mansions aren't fully furnished yet. Why don't I handle that for you? I'll inform you as soon as the units are ready."
Deidre volunteered herself, not about to pass up on this golden opportunity.
Once she got ahold of Charles, she would finally be able to truly interact with the upper class.
Charles still had to go to school, so he naturally did not have time to deal with the properties. Beside, he could guess at Deidre's true intentions.
Naturally, he would not reject such a beauty throwing herself at him.
"In that case, I'll have to trouble you, Miss Chase. You can stay in any of the units in Jonestown Bay. Just let me know when the top floor is ready," Charles said calmly.
Life was different now that he had money. Before, he never even dared to think about a woman like Deidre. Now, she was taking the initiative to suck up to him.
Still, after what happened with Mandy, Charles was very calm in the face of such temptation.
After all, with his current wealth, he could find a woman who was prettier and even more proactive than Deidre.
"Thank you, Mr. Duncan. I promise to live up to your expectations of me." Deidre smiled sweetly.
Just as she thought, good things would happen if she just took the initiative. The houses here were worth forty million, after all, and now she could stay in whichever one she pleased.
Just then, Rue returned with a large bunch of keys.
"Mr. Duncan, here are your keys."
Charles turned to Rue. The girl was the only one in the whole sales office who did not judge him by his looks.
It was rare to find such an innocent and serious young lady.
He especially appreciated her honesty when comparing her to Mandy.
Charles grabbed a key at random and handed it to her.
Rue looked at Charles in confusion. "Mr. Duncan… What are you doing?"
Charles explained, "This house is your reward."
Rue was completely taken aback, waving her hands in a fluster. "Mr. Duncan, I was just doing my duty. How could I possibly live in your house?"
She never even dreamed of living in a mansion worth 40 million dollars.
Next to her, Deidre thought that Charles had taken a fancy to Rue. Then again, she knew very well that it was impossible for her to monopolize Charles.
In that case, she might as well show her generosity.
She grabbed Rue's arm and said, "Rue, this just goes to show that Mr. Duncan thinks highly of you. You should be grateful to him for letting you stay. Don't turn him down and embarrass him like that!"
"But…"
"No buts. Just thank him."
Rue found it difficult to refute her manager, so she bowed deeply to Charles and said gratefully, "Thank you, Mr. Duncan… Please don't worry. I'll do my best to fulfil any task you ask of me."
Taking the key from Charles's hand, she still could not believe this was real. She had been living in a cheap rental house just yesterday.
Today, she could move into a forty-million-dollar mansion today — and it was all because of Charles.
[Beep… Reward: 10 Sincerity Points.]
A voice suddenly sounded in Charles's mind.
He gained 10 Sincerity Points just like that?
It was obvious that he had gotten them from Rue. At least she was sincerely grateful to him.
In that case, it seemed like a good idea spend money on gifts sometimes. Perhaps he would earn some Sincerity Points that way.
After leaving the reception room, Deidre personally escorted Charles to the door.
Just then, Heather shouted, "Manager, I just completed another deal. You have to prepare a celebratory feast for me tonight, okay?"
Deidre smiled. "I'm afraid Rue will be the star of the celebratory feast Rue today. She scored 102 orders in a day."
"What?" Heather was shocked. "How is that possible?"
"Nothing's impossible. By the way, this is Mr. Duncan, the VIP who bought 102 properties. Treat him well from now on, you hear?" Deidre introduced them.
Charles greeted Heather with a grin.
Heather almost passed out. The guy she had looked down on had bought an entire building!
Her commission was 0.1%, which meant she had lost a potential jackpot of four million dollars! The opportunity had slipped through her fingers and benefited that intern, Rue, for nothing.
She was filled with regret, but it was too late.
Deidre personally escorted Charles out of the sales office.
Seeing that Charles wanted to take a cab, she asked curiously, "Mr. Duncan, don't you… have a driver's license?"
Charles cleared his throat. He had gotten a driver's license when he was in school, but unfortunately, he did not have the money to buy a car.
"I do have a driver's license, but I can't be bothered to drive."
Deidre probed further. "But how will you deal with emergencies without a car of your own?"
For someone like Charles, she did not mind being a chauffeur.
Charles nodded. "That's a good point. Would you happen to know anyone who sells planes, Miss Chase?"
"You want… a plane?"
Deidre's lip twitched.
"That's right. In the event of an emergency, getting stuck in traffic would be even more inconvenient. I might as well buy a plane. There happens to be a landing pad on the top floor anyway."
Deidre swallowed, suddenly reminded of her own narrow vision.
As if someone like him would need a car!
"So, Miss Chase, do you know anyone who sells planes?"
"Well, I don't know about that, but I can ask around for you."
Deidre had no choice but to make him a promise for now. She had helped many tycoons buy cars, but this was the first time someone asked her to buy a plane.
"Thank you, Miss Chase."
Charles left the sales office and took the subway, planning to go back to the university for the night.
Turning on the system panel, he distributed the 43 Attribute Points he had obtained evenly to his Strength, Vitality, and Willpower.
[Host: Charles Duncan]
[Strength: 100]
[Intelligence: 101]
[Vitality: 100]
[Willpower: 91]
[The human average is 100.]
[Sincerity: 10]
[Today's Balance: 9,995,699,999,992]
Charles felt a warm current flowing through his body, instantly increasing his strength and vitality.
The slight improvement in his willpower did not make much difference to Charles.
When he took a look at the Sincerity Shop menu, he saw a dazzling variety of items for sale.
There were all kinds of medicines, cultivation techniques, and everything in between.
"Whoa, there's even an immortal cultivation technique?"
Charles' eyes were burning with excitement as he quickly clicked on the Nine Revolutions Technique Manual.
"Holy f*ck, it costs 1,800 Sincerity Points? How long will it take to save up at this rate?"
The Sincerity Shop was tempting, but none of the items came cheap.
Charles sighed. "Looks like I'll have to take it slowly. But at least I have something to aim for now."
