CHAPTER FORTY-SIX - Unspoken Tensions
Claire stepped off the plane, her heart racing with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. The familiar hustle and bustle of the airport enveloped her as she made her way through the terminal, pulling her carry-on behind her. She was so lost in thought that she almost missed the tall figure standing near the exit, a bouquet of vibrant sunflowers in his hands.
"Mason?" she called out, her voice barely audible above the airport noise.
He turned, his face breaking into a warm smile. "Claire," he said, closing the distance between them. "I hope you don't mind the surprise."
Claire felt a rush of emotions as she took in the sight of him. "Not at all," she replied, accepting the flowers. "They're beautiful. How did you know sunflowers were my favorite?"
Mason's eyes twinkled. "I pay attention," he said softly. Then, more seriously, "Claire, I... I've been thinking about you non-stop since Paris. When you told me about this job offer, I realized I didn't want to lose you."
