CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE: THE FINAL SHOWDOWN
As the dust settled from their fierce battle, Mason, Claire, and Robert stood amidst the unconscious forms of Red and his men, their chests heaving with exertion and relief. The desert around them was eerily quiet, save for the occasional groan from one of their fallen foes.
"We... we did it," Claire breathed, her voice a mixture of disbelief and exhaustion.
Mason nodded, wincing as he clutched his injured arm. "Yeah, but we're not out of the woods yet. We need to figure out our next move."
Robert, ever vigilant, was already scanning the horizon. "We should check their vehicles. Maybe we can use one to get out of here."
As they began to move towards the parked trucks, a sudden movement caught Claire's eye. One of Red's men, who they had thought was unconscious, was staggering to his feet.
"Hey!" she shouted, but it was too late. The man stumbled to one of the vehicles and, with a screech of tires on sand, sped off into the desert.
