Laurelle took a cab back to the Fletcher residence. The front door was shut. She rang the bell twice, and a maid cracked the door open, peeking out with surprise when she saw her. "Ms. Fletcher, you're back?" Laurelle nodded slightly and stepped inside. The maid hesitated, then said, "Are you here to see Mrs. Fletcher? She's having a headache and is resting in her room. She doesn't want to see anyone." Her eyes were filled with pity as she looked at Laurelle.
