Once I was finished, I wrapped myself in a towel and got dressed. I chose a comfortable outfit, knowing I had a busy day ahead. I wanted to feel both prepared and relaxed, so I went for a pair of jeans and a cozy sweater.
Heading downstairs, I could already smell the aroma of breakfast that my mother had prepared. It was a simple but comforting spread—toast, eggs, and fresh fruit. The kitchen felt warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the anxiety that had been hanging over me.
My mother was at the table, sipping her coffee. She looked up with a smile as I entered. “Good morning, Camilla. I hope you slept a bit better after your call.”
“Morning, Mom,” I said, managing a smile. “Not really, but I’m trying to stay positive. Thanks for making breakfast. It smells great.”
“I thought it might help you start the day on a better note,” she said, her eyes filled with concern. “You’ve got a busy day ahead, I’m sure. Just remember to stay safe and take care of yourself.”
