Drake noticed and raised an eyebrow. “Are you going to answer that?”
I looked at him, feeling a blend of frustration and reluctance. “Do you want me to?”
Drake shrugged, though his expression was firm. “It’s your call. I don’t like Justin, but it’s up to you.”
I threw the phone back onto the bed, not having to deal with him right now. “Nope, not answering it.”
Just then, there was a knock on the door. I turned to see my mom peeking in, a warm smile on her face. “Hey, are you two hungry?”
Drake’s face lit up with a hopeful grin. “Yeah, actually. That would be great.”
My mom walked in carrying a tray with two plates of food. Drake stood up to help her set it down on the bed. “Thanks, Mrs. Johnson,” he said, taking the tray from her.
She smiled at him, a little relieved to see that he was making himself at home. “You’re welcome, dear. I thought you both might need something to eat after everything that’s happened.”
