Grace lowered her head guiltily and silently moved to hide behind Oliver.
Oliver was in an unusually good mood, and in such moments, he was receptive to suggestions from others. "I'll go easier on him next time," he assured.
Juniper expressed heartfelt gratitude. "Thank you for dealing with James, Oliver. But remember, he's my only son. Just try not to be too harsh when disciplining him."
Quietly to herself, she added, "If anyone has to be hit, let it be your son, not mine."
"I understand," Oliver replied.
After Juniper left, Grace stayed silent in the bedroom. Oliver glanced at her; all he could see was the top of her head.
"In the future, be more cautious with James. Remember to go easy on him. Understood?"
Grace nodded obediently. "Got it."
Oliver took the blame for her, which deepened her affection for him.
Sensing her embarrassment from earlier, Oliver chose not to mention it again. He went to the closet to get his pajamas and noticed her belongings there.
