Chapter 13

The Gulliver family's intentions remained unclear, but a call from Grace arrived just then. At first, he didn't recognize the number as Grace's. It was only after answering the call and hearing her cheerfully calling him an old geezer that his temples throbbed with suppressed anger. "Grace!" "Hey, old geezer, your dad asked me to tell you to come home. He wants to talk to you about something." Since Oliver had already shown his aggressive side, retracting now would seem hypocritical. He had a sharp tongue, and she knew the best defense was a sharper offense. So, she had given Oliver an affectionate nickname—"Old Geezer". Judging by Oliver's tone, it seemed clear that he didn't like this nickname very much. Oliver gripped his phone while suppressing his anger. "Grace, don't you dare call me that again." Then, Grace's voice was filled with glee as she repeated, "Old geezer, old geezer, old geezer. I've called you that three times now. What are you going to do about it? Come home if you have the guts!" Oliver swallowed in anger as he narrowed his eyes. Clearly, she was scheming to provoke him to go back home. But he wouldn't. Oliver forced himself to stay calm and hung up the phone. Moments later, Grace's call came again. "Are you upset, old geezer? What's got you all riled up? I didn't throw a fit when you teased me about my short legs, but you're fuming because I called you an old geezer? "Men are so petty. It's not like it hurts you if I call you an old geezer. Besides, you're practically old enough to be my dad's brother. "Should I start calling you Grandpa instead? Fine, Grandpa Oliver, it is. Hello, Grandpa Oliver, are you there?" The call was hung up again. Grace moved her phone away from her ear and glared at the black screen. She muttered to herself, "No way, this is the CEO of Jefferson Corporation? He's so set in his ways that he wouldn't budge even an inch. "What's the big deal with calling him an old geezer? Doesn't he realize how old he is? I will keep calling him that until he dies of anger." Grace called him relentlessly, but Oliver always hung up directly. Grace called again, but this time it went straight to voicemail. Damn it. He had blocked her. Back at the Jefferson residence, she picked up the landline and dialed Oliver's number. Oliver had just arrived at the meeting room when his phone rang. He answered the call from home and held the phone to his ear. The familiar voice that made him want to punch someone came through. "Hello, Old Geezer. Your father wants you home for a talk. If you don't come back home—" A series of beeps sounded as he hung up the call. A moment later, another call came through. "Grace, you're asking for trouble!" "Oliver, is this how you speak to your wife?" Peter yelled angrily. When he had walked down the stairs, he had found his new daughter-in-law sitting alone in the living room and making phone calls. Upon asking, he learned that Grace was calling Oliver on his behalf. Then, she had said, "Dad, I heard that you had something to talk to Oliver about, but he left, so I figured I'd try to get him back." She was such a good daughter-in-law. Peter looked at Grace's sincere face and innocent eyes, and his fondness for her deepened. Moreover, she was doing this for his sake, and he did have something to say to Oliver. So, Peter took the initiative to call Oliver, but he didn't expect to hear his son's furious cursing as soon as he answered the call. Peter's anger flared up. "Oliver, get your ass back here and apologize to Grace!" Grace's shoulders shrank in fright at Peter's loud voice, wondering what Oliver had said to make him so angry.
