Chapter 5
What I saw was a large manor, much larger than the one I used to live in.
It was the first time I left home and came to a place far, far away. And I came to this place to be the Alpha's breeder. How ironic!
"Welcome to the Mercado pack," Sean got out of the car first and opened the door for me.
"Thank you." I was still afraid of him, although he was polite and kind to me during the trip.
A group of people walked out of the gate and walked toward us. The leading one was tall and strong, with bronzed skin and black hair. He was so elegant and gorgeous that no one could ignore his existence. He released an aura of stress, making people unconsciously frightened and want to obey him.
"Alpha." Sean lowered his head and said with respect.
I didn't expect to see the Alpha of Mercado, the one who was going to be my master. I was at a loss for what to do.
Not until the Alpha came in front of me that I realized and lowered my head.
I felt a shadow covering me. He was that ruthless Alpha. Thinking of it, I suddenly became nervous.
"Who is she?" The Alpha asked.
"She's Miss Cora. We just came back from the Oneal pack," Sean answered.
"Raise your head." I knew that he was talking to me. So, I raised my head and said slightly, "Alpha."
He had a sculpted face, black curled hair, and green eyes. His eyes were sharp and cold and full of mystery. I had never seen such a beautiful man before. My face turned red, and I immediately lowered my head again.
There was silence. I felt awkward.
"I don't want to say it again." His tone didn't allow me to reject him. I used all my strength to force myself to look up at him.
He approached me and stared at me carefully, like examining his prey. He had no expression on his face. I wasn't sure what he was thinking. I was so anxious that I couldn't help but tremble.
Then, from the corner of my eye, I saw he raised his right hand. It reminded me of what Gerardo and Rangel often did to me. My body suddenly tightened, and I subconsciously shrank and closed my eyes.
His fingers reached my face, sweeping over my forehead and brushing the hair away from my face. I could even smell the fresh scent on his finger.
"Take her to my study," he said before he left.
After the Alpha left, I gradually calmed down. The smell of his finger was still left on my face. It was a combination of fresh grass and soil.
"Are you alright?" Sean looked at me.
"I'm fine." I immediately lowered my head. I didn't want him to see my red face.
"Take it easy. Alpha isn't always like this." Sean's voice was always gentle.
"Thank you." I looked up and smiled at Sean. It was more like a relief.

Sean took me to the Alpha's study.
The study was decorated with black walnut. Nothing else other than the document was in the study. No paintings or photos.
I shivered as soon as I entered the study.
"You can have a seat." Sean pointed to a chair in front of the huge desk.
"Thank you. But I'm fine." Thinking of the conversation which was going to happen, I felt anxious. Obviously, there was no way I escaped from here. I could still remember Rangel's roar and his scarlet blood.
My fingers knotted as I was so nervous. Seeing me like this, Sean poured a glass of water for me and said gently, "The Alpha isn't going to eat you."
I suddenly raised my head to look at him and stuttered, "No...no... I...I just..."
"The die was cast. It would be better for you to accept it." Sean was patient. "Besides, I don't see why you want to stay with those people."
I took the glass and took a sip of water. I had to admit Sean was right. What I missed was the house I used to live with my parents. There were memories I would never forget. But since my parents had gone, I had no reason to stay there anymore. Gerardo and Kaylie always wanted me to leave. I had been enough for that kind of life. I always wanted to after my parents died. I wanted to be free, to look for my mate and spend the rest of my life with him.
Sean's words reminded me. Since I had no choice but to be the Alpha's breeder, what else could I do for myself?
The door opened. The Alpha walked in. There was no expression on his face. He walked directly around the desk and sat down.
Then, he looked straight into my eyes. "You are aware why you are here, right?"
I didn't expect he would ask directly and was a little embarrassed. "Yes," I answered in a voice that could barely be heard.
"Good. I want you to get pregnant as soon as possible. It's the most important task for you. If you need anything, you can tell me. Is there a problem?"
Obviously, he noticed my shocked expression. "Do I have to get pregnant this fast?" I was not prepared for this.
"That's why I paid so much money."
That sounded very reasonable. I didn't know what to say.
"Miss Oneal, if you need anything to make yourself comfortable here, it's a good time to say it," Sean reminded me just in time.
I hesitated. The idea just came to my mind, and I wasn't sure if the Alpha would agree to it or not.
There was silence in the room. I could see the Alpha almost lost his patience.
Finally, I poured up my courage and said, "If I give birth to a baby for you, will you let me go?"
"Let you go?" The Alpha seemed confused.
"Set me free. So I can go wherever I want to. I only want freedom." I said as I glanced at Sean. He looked at me meaningfully and seemed to want to say something.
But the Alpha answered almost immediately, "Okay. I don't see there's a problem."
"Really. Thank you." I didn't feel as happy as I thought I would. But at least it gave me hope.
"Okay, it seems we have done here. You will stay in the suite next to mine. Sean, take her to rest," the Alpha quickly finished the conversation and ordered.
I felt a little relief hearing that. I was desperate to leave this suffocating room.
