Chapter 6 Certification
Gideon rubbed his eyebrows as his head started to ache.
After a long time, he finally sighed and softened his tone. “Let go, I’ll bring you up to rest.”
“I don’t wanna.”
Nell wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest like she was a drowning man holding onto the last piece of driftwood.
For six years, Jason had refused to touch her. She used to foolishly think that it was because he respected and cared for her.
However, now she knew that he just thought she was rigid and disinteresting. In his eyes, underneath her skin, she was no different from a man.
Just thinking of this made her pride sting ruthlessly.
As if to prove something, she hugged the man and kissed his lips again.
This time, it was not as light as before. She took his lips in her mouth, gently grinding and licking. Her thick fan-like eyelashes quivered gently and brushed the skin on his face, making him itch slightly.
Gideon’s entire body went stiff.
The taut strings in his mind snapped one by one.
After battling with nature, he was defeated and reached out to grip her chin. He breathed heavily. “Nell Jennings! Do you know what you’re doing?”
Nell released his lips and whimpered at the pain from her chin. She looked up at him with wet, accusing eyes, like a wounded fawn.
She said confidently, “I do! I’m sleeping with you!”
Gideon snorted with anger and laughter.
His eyes were dark and his voice was terribly low.
“Are you sure?”
Nell was dazed for a moment before nodding.
“Alright! Then I’ll satisfy you.”
On the second floor of Leith Gardens.
The door to the bedroom was slammed open. He placed her on the bed and peppered kisses on her while trailing downwards. Clothes were scattered all over the floor.
Nell sighed softly. Her body was burning and her head was dizzy. She could not tell if she was in a dream or in reality.
The man’s husky voice sounded by her ear. “I’m giving you one last chance. Are you sure you want to sleep with me?”
Nell nodded her head in a blur.
Gideon pulled open the bedside drawer and took out a document.
“Alright. Sign this first.”
Nell looked at it with hazy eyes. “What?”
“The certification is the most fundamental respect a man can have for his favorite woman.”
She looked at him blankly and did not quite understand what he meant, but still signed the document in confusion under the influence of alcohol.
Looking at the two clear words on the paper, Gideon hooked his lips in satisfaction and put the document back in the drawer. Then, he kissed her lips heavily once again.
The room was filled with charm and gentleness.
…
The next day, Nell was awakened by pain.
Her body was so sore she felt like she had been run over by several trucks. She hurt everywhere.
She sat up in the bed with great difficulty and found her throat extremely dry.
Seeing the cup of water on the bedside table, she picked it up and downed it without thinking.
The cup of warm water flowed into her stomach which made her feel much better, and last night’s fuzzy memories gradually returned.
She rubbed her head, vaguely remembering that she had gotten into a car with a man. She also seemed to have done something amazing after being provoked by consecutive calls from Jason and Celine.
Nell jumped and fiercely lifted the blanket.
Although she was prepared for it, she could not help but freak out when she saw the dense purple love bites all over her body.
‘Ahhh—! How did this happen?’
She pulled at her hair in frustration. Just then, a ‘click’ suddenly sounded.
Nell jolted and hurriedly pulled the blanket over herself.
“Who is it?”
The bedroom door was opened and a slender man walked in with steady steps.
Nell’s eyes widened viciously.
Although her memories of last night were fuzzy, she vaguely remembered what kind of man she slept with.
Gideon Leith was dressed in a black suit with a crisp white shirt today. His buttons were meticulously buttoned to the top, and he looked handsome and exquisite. His whole body exuded a cold aura.
He held a set of ladies’ clothes in his hands. Even upon seeing her awake, there was not much expression on his face.
He placed the clothes on the bed and said softly, “Change your clothes and come downstairs for breakfast.”
Nell called out to him.
“About… Last night…”
Gideon turned away from him and his lips curled up imperceptibly, but his voice was still indifferent and cool.
“Let’s talk downstairs.”
Then, he walked out. He also gentlemanly closed the door after him.
Nell was dumbstruck for a moment before she suddenly fell onto the bed. She grabbed the pillow and pressed it over her face, and screamed silently.
Although her memory was a little fragmented, she still remembered bits and pieces. She vaguely knew what she did after piecing the scattered memories together.
‘Ahhh! How embarrassing!’
However, no matter how regretful she was, there was no way to turn back time. Thus, after she freaked out for a while, she eventually got up from the bed and dejectedly picked up the clothes before going into the bathroom.
While showering, she saw the thickly dotted bruises all over her body and blushed again.
After taking a shower, she got dressed and went downstairs to see the man sitting on the couch in the lounge.
The lounge was very large, and just like the bedroom upstairs, was designed in a monochrome modern minimalist style. It was luxurious yet restrained, and the French windows to the side were wide open. The breeze that blew through made the room slightly chilly.
Perhaps because he heard footsteps, Gideon turned around. A flash of amazement flickered in his eyes when he saw the woman standing on the stairs.
Nell was wearing the black shirt-style knee-length dress he brought up for her. The neckline was slightly wide and a black ribbon was tied around her neck. Coupled with her tall and well-proportioned figure, she looked simple yet sexy.
Gideon’s eyes deepened and he got up and walked to the dining hall.
Nell could only walk after him. She finally caught up to him as they stepped into the dining hall.
“Sir, about last night… I’m really sorry. I was drunk.”
Gideon pulled out the chair for her to sit before sitting at the other end himself. He replied softly, “It’s fine.”
After a pause, he added, “I did my part anyway.”
“Huh?”
Nell was confused, but a man walked over from outside before she could understand what he meant.
He walked over to Gideon and respectfully handed over two red notebooks. “Mr. President, it’s done.”
Gideon hummed and reached out to flip one open before handing the other to Nell casually.
“Have a look.”
Nell was stunned and subconsciously felt that this red book looked a little familiar. ‘Why did it look like a…’
With a sudden jump of her heart, she snatched it up and could not help but stare when her eyes saw the two clear and eye-catching names on the top of the book along with the red-background photo.
“W-What’s going on here?”
Gideon glanced at her.
Compared to her shock, he seemed much calmer. He placed the marriage certificate in his hands aside and said in a deep voice, “Have you forgotten what you signed?”
Nell’s eyes were round. “What did I sign?”
“Heh!” As if anticipating her reaction, Gideon tapped on the table. Matthew Starks immediately handed over a document.
Nell looked at it. On the document were two large words clearly written on it: Marriage Application.
