Chapter 9

Leonora saw that Simeon had injuries on his body, he was even wrapped up with gauze in some places. She crouched down to his level to earnestly hear his answer. "I'm a man so it doesn't hurt as much. Besides, a beautiful auntie bandaged me," Simeon said in a strong and sensible tone. Because he was a boy, Terrence was strict with him. Eventually, he developed the same personality he had when he was a child, which was tolerant, independent, and never showed weakness easily. People with this kind of personality were usually bitter and cruel. Terrence didn't want Simeon to be like him, but fate was a funny thing and history has a tendency to repeat itself. Terrence patted his head, and he unconsciously stroked the bandages on Simeon's forehead. The bandaging method was very familiar, very similar to her way of bandaging. This was the way of comfort between the two. They didn't even need to say anything. Although Leonora couldn't understand, she decided not to worry when she saw the smile on her son's face. "Let's go home." The three of them got in the car, and the Rolls-Royce quickly started and left. This was the time when office workers and students were going home, there were many cars on the road because of this. Simeon was sitting between his parents and was looking around. Suddenly, he saw Christine and her mother standing next to the bus stop, shouting, "Mom, Dad, look over there! That is the beautiful aunty who bandaged me!" The two swiftly turned to look, a white car suddenly passed by and by the time it was gone the two already disappeared. "Wait, where did they go?" Simeon wondered. The car was quiet again, and soon, the car continued on through the traffic. Lauren was fortunate that she was clever. She recognized the Rolls-Royce and the two of them quickly hid behind the bus stop. Christine fixed her hair, and looked around with her grape-like eyes wondering if there was something troubling her mother. "Mom, are there any bad guys?" Christine nervously asked. Lauren breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the Rolls-Royce driving away, and she straightened her hair, and said, "The sun is a bit harsh, isn't it? Let's stand in the shade for now." Christine pointed to the other side of the street and said nonchalantly, "But, Mom, the sun is shining that way." Lauren just smiled nervously in response. She may be a five-year-old but she wasn't easy to trick anymore. Lauren looked in the direction where the car went. She knew that she won't be so lucky every time. If Terrence found out that she had given birth to the child, she didn't know what he would do. Everyone knew that having a child was like bondage, and it was the reason why he wanted her to get rid of the child early on. Just to be on the safe side, she wanted to change Christine's kindergarten. Although this kindergarten was the cheapest, there was no other way. Lauren murmured and complained to himself, "How can he send his child to such an ordinary kindergarten when he is so rich? Honestly, rich people are weird." Christine overheard and she said, "Didn't grandma always tell us, even if you are rich, you should still save money?" "Well, I guess you're right," she squeezed her little nose fondly. Lauren took Christine back home, and then ate just a mouthful of rice. "Mom, I'm done eating. I have a part-time job starting today. You and Christine can eat after getting back home. Don't wait up for me." With that said, Lauren took her bag, put on her shoes and ran out of the house. Melanie wanted to tell her that she had already swiped the card for the second half of Christine's kindergarten tuition. But before she could tell her, Lauren had already left. She shook her head, she put a piece of meat in Christine's bowl and said, "Eat up, sweetie, and don't be like your mother when you grow up." Christine saluted with milk on her lips. "Yes, Grandma, I know!" After Lauren took a taxi to the Golden Palace, which was a high-end hotel and restaurant, she went directly to manager Lee Jing. He and Jenny were college classmates, which made it easy for her to introduce Lauren. "This is the private room of the VIP floor. You are responsible for the butler service from 7:00 p.m. to midnight. It is always booked, so you have no time to get tired. Make sure you finish your job." Butler service, as the name implies, was responsible for all the services for the guests in the VIP floor, from the dishes to the drinks, and the cleaning. It was Lauren's first day on duty, and the private room was full. She heard from the guests inside that a wealthy businessman is coming to celebrate his fiancée's birthday. At seven o'clock, a Rolls-Royce stopped in front of the Golden Palace. The hotel doorman stepped forward and opened the door with a very respectful attitude. Leonora gave the doorman a small tip as a reward. Everyone has been waiting for a long time, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was full of enthusiasm. Terrence's dark suit draped casually on his arm, and his long body stood out, forming a landscape of its own. The glamorously dressed men and women looked over at the same time, with amazement in their eyes, it was as if they didn't believe that there were men who were as perfect as Terrence in this world. "Darling, let me introduce you, this is Jonathan Tang, the CEO of Tang Corporation." Leonora clung to Terrence like a sovereign, with a proud look on her face. "Nice to meet you," Terrence stretched out his hand, although there was a smile on his face, it was difficult to distinguish whether he was happy or angry.
