Melanie's face was a little pale, and she sighed. "Get off me. Your head is heavy."
Lauren heard it, but she instead hugged her mother and swayed side to side lovingly.
"Lauren, I'm worried about you, why can't you find a nice man? I won't be here long enough to pair you with someone. What are you going to do?"
Melanie choked several times when she said this, it's easy to call her selfish for pairing her with strangers to marry, but deep down she knew her daughter's struggles and her pain. She simply wanted what was best for her, like all parents do.
Lauren embraced her mother tighter and soon tears started falling on her mother's shoulder, but she calmed her voice to reassure her, "Mom, you don't have to worry about me all the time, I'll be fine. Just take care of yourself, okay?"
