Chapter 47 Making a Pact
No one could ever grow accustomed to the maids' attitudes, but over the years, I had learned to endure it.
Their treatment of me hinged entirely on how Aaron treated me. When he showed me pity and spoke to me kindly at home, they would be polite as well. But when he despised and condemned me, they followed suit and treated me with cruelty.
The maids had a history of treating me poorly. Initially, I would ask them to respect me, but their behavior only worsened when I stopped reminding them.
Now, I no longer cared about their behavior. All I had to do was endure it for one more month. After that, I would be free.
She must have overheard our argument about divorce. I had never seen her behave this badly toward me before.
When I asked if there was food in the kitchen, she shook her head. "There's no food. I bought fresh ingredients today, but I had to throw them away since you didn't eat."
I had seen broccoli and steak in the kitchen just a while ago. Why would she discard them?
