HAVEN I'm in the hallway, placing my books in the locker when it shuts, slamming the tip of my fingers in the process. "Ahh," I end with a hiss. "Oh, did that hurt?" Sarah asks mockingly. Ember pushes her backwards and takes the front row. "Next week is going to be very exciting, don't you think?" When I remain quiet, she smiles and continues. "Oh, I forgot you weren't paying attention, probably plotting with your mother how to get me and my brother kicked out of the house." "I don't have time for this." I start to move. Surprisingly, she doesn't block my way so that she can continue with her insults. "At least I was kind enough to get you the lead role." I stop at her words then turn around. confused, I ask. "Lead role?" "Of course, sweetie.." She makes sure she draws out the word "sweetie" and i know it's just so she can piss me off because it's what mom calls me.
