Nikolai drummed his fingers impatiently on the table, his gaze fixed on Ophelia. "I do not know about you, Storm, but I have a limited time. I need to activate the blood moon, and to do that, I have to get out of here."
Ophelia’s lips curved into a thoughtful pout as she slowly savored a piece of fruit. "As I’ve mentioned before, everyone will expect me to kill you."
"And to get out of here, I have to kill you. I no longer care about hurting your betrothed."
Ophelia’s nod was resolute. "That’s acceptable. However, you are still required to accompany me to the ball. It’s not optional." With that, she moved towards Nikolai, placing her bowl of freshly cut fruits on the table with a deliberate gesture.
Nikolai shot her a sidelong glance before nodding in agreement. "Then I will attend this ball and listen to whatever judgment the sun gods have in store for me."
