Chapter 725 He Felt Sorry for Her
When Dominic returned to the bedroom, Bella was half-asleep, barely hanging onto consciousness. The noise he made startled her awake.
He turned on the bright overhead light and stood at the foot of the bed, looking down at her. "Get up. We need to talk."
Squinting against the light, Bella sat up, the brightness stabbing into her eyes. Once she adjusted, she gazed up at him. The contrast between the stark lighting and his tall, rigid figure made him look like a shadow cast against the ceiling. His face carried an unmistakable tension, a brooding heaviness that set her on edge.
"What's wrong?" she murmured, her voice still groggy.
He hadn't said much on the drive back from the Morse residence, but now the frustration he'd been holding back finally spilled over. "Haven't I told you not to have anything to do with the Morses?"
Bella didn't reply. The emerald bangle on her wrist caught the light, its polished green surface gleaming almost mockingly.
His voice grew sharper. "Answer me!
