Chapter 51 The All-Encompassing Emptiness
This wasn't just quite the story; it was bizarre. Bella remembered what Leonard had said outside the emergency room and tentatively asked, "Do you and your father… not get along well?"
"Who told you that?" We get along very well!" Leonard retorted.
Bella was even more perplexed. "Then, why did you tell me to just let him go when he was first sent to the hospital?"
He seemed so indifferent at the time; otherwise, she wouldn't have given it much thought.
Leonard chuckled. "I had to keep him on his toes. What if he'd actually passed out and never woke up? He's clinging to life because he's afraid that my older brothers will gang up on me when he's gone."
"You're pretty lucky. It's clear that your father really loves your mother," she remarked with a smile.
It was often said that every cloud had a silver lining, but she hadn't found hers yet. The light at the end of the tunnel was still a distant glimmer. Perhaps not every journey ended in sunshine.
