When Zion saw Lia's shocked expression, he said, "It's alright. I already know. You'd probably get eaten alive if you step into the Sawyer family.
"More importantly, your father would never allow such a thing to happen. Considering that we're married, I've said everything that I needed to say. When shall we settle our divorce?"
Lia composed herself and said, "Anytime is fine. We can even go now if you like."
Once they had completed the divorce procedures, Lia felt like she was still in a daze. The two of them had gotten married and divorced so abruptly. It was almost as if the whole thing had been a big joke.
Zion gave her a final hug and said, "No matter what, we can still be friends. You can come to me if you ever need help with anything."
Lia nodded. "I don't dare tell my dad about our divorce for now, so I hope you won't tell him either. I'll wait until the cat's out of the bag before I do."
Zion nodded in agreement, and they both went their separate ways.
