As the lightning subsided, the storm outside also stopped at some point.
Dominic got up and walked to the window, then lit a cigarette. He only noticed Pudding had been there all along when it came to stand behind him.
"You're too quiet," Dominic muttered.

Bella hadn't returned to her senses yet. She lay on the bed, unwilling to move. Her eyes were half-closed as she watched his back. Outside the window, a lonely moon hung in the sky. The breeze that blew after the rain carried a fresh scent. It drifted into the room, making her feel sleepy.
