Chapter Twenty-Three - Ava
Fletcher looked good enough to eat sitting across from me. The cool, hard demeanor had loosened and he seemed almost normal.
I wasn’t a fool enough to believe he was completely hard all the time but I’d begun to think that before today.
Today was nice. Fletcher seemed affectionate and attracted to me. Not that I hadn’t been attracted to him before physically. But the normalcy of our conversation had softened my spine a bit.
Fletcher sipped his wine and watched as I took a greedy bite of my garlic bread. Lucinda outdid herself with this dinner. It was odd to have someone cater to you every time you needed something but it was a relaxing feeling.
I took another sip of my wine while Fletcher watched me. “Are you going to take advantage of me in my tipsy state?” I asked.
Fletcher’s eyes widened at my brazenness. He better have soaked it up because I rarely drank because of this. I’d never been able to hold my liquor.
“What kind of a husband would I be if I didn’t?” he asked.
