I was shaking when I got to Bree in the guest bedroom. I knew it was stupid to be so afraid and nervous around Fletcher but I couldn’t help it.
Bree turned to face me when I walked inside.
“Fletcher said it was fine for us to put in a sink over there,” I said.
Bree’s face lit up. “That’s amazing. This is going to be the best art studio you’ve ever seen.”
I grinned. Just a few days before I was living in a rundown apartment with only hopes and dreams of painting again. My fingers twitched in anticipation of creating again. I couldn’t wait to have this space ready for me.
“How long have you been married?” Bree asked, typing something on her phone.
“Just a few days,” I mumbled.
She looked over at me. “Newlyweds. Congratulations, honey. You’ve landed the jackpot with this one.”
I wouldn’t argue. Ever since we’d finally kissed, things had shifted. Maybe it was my guard being let down or something different in him. Either way, I was afraid to go swim with him.
