Chapter 78 Shot in the Back
Someone was screaming.
The screams pierced through the night air like lightning, echoing off every surface, permeating through every crevice.
It was Mirabel. Her eyes were wide with terror as Chase sank to his knees. It seemed like he was trying to say something, but he finally fell face down to the grass, unmoving.
His back was soaked with copious amounts of his own blood.
“Chase! Chase! Oh my god— wait, no, stop!!! Stop!”
She had been trying to go to him, but the driver grabbed her from behind, dragging her out of the garden.
“We have to fucking go, now!”
“No! Let me go! Let me go, he's hurt! He's bleeding, help him!!” Mirabel fought hard.
She fought with all her strength, like an animal, against the man dragging her away. But it wasn't enough. She was too weak to break free of him.
