Chapter 66 Candle Night
“Aren't you cold?”
It was Chase’s rumbling, dark voice slithering up Mirabel’s exposed neck.
She looked away from the white pearls adorning her neck to glance at him through the mirror reflection. He was across the room, donning his midnight black suit, but his ravenous eyes were on her.
Ever since they arrived at the villa, they had not been intimate. Things were just too tense.
Enemies all around, and living under the same roof. The entire situation with Lucas and Vera Stonebridge’s unfair death still hung like a knell between them, among so many other obvious issues in their dysfunctional relationship.
Not to mention that Mirabel nearly had all of her escape plans solidified. She had her flight booked, and the hotel arranged for her arrival… All she had to do now was find the right time to leave the Darwin Villa.
It was insane that this was what it had come to… but she had to get away from Chase, or he would ruin her. Completely.
