Chapter 42 Unexpected Savior
Lucas Grisham lifted Mirabel from the floor, brushing off the pieces of grass and dirt stuck to her skin, clothes, and hair.
“I'm so sorry, are you hurt?” He fussed over her, checking her body for injuries.
When he noticed the swelling in her cheek, and the bleeding scratches on her feet, knees, and palms, his eyes darkened with anger.
Mirabel couldn't care less about her injuries. She still could not believe that it was Lucas standing right in front of her. She was struck by a wave of massive guilt when she saw that his left hand was in a cast.
There was a plaster on the bridge of his nose. And so many other healing injuries that she could not see properly in the dim light.
“Oh my god, Lucas… did he…Chase did this, didn't he?” More tears gathered in her eyes, “I’m so sorry, Lucas. I didn't know, I thought—”
“Shh…” He placed his thumb against her lips, “Don't cry. None of this is your fault. And don't worry about me, I'm okay. But you? You're not fine, Mira.”
