Outside the windows, heavy thunderclouds blocked the sunset. Raindrops beat against the glass, increasing by the hour. Chase turned away, with his hand brushing through his hair. He had fallen into a strange slumber after having his way with Mirabel. He had not even noticed when she left. It all felt hazy, for some reason, and it made him feel unsettled.
