Chapter 7 A Blast From The Past
On Monday morning, as soon as I stepped through the school's door, I saw something that I never expected to see. Beside my locker, Stacy and Ashton were talking and....
Laughing?
I went up to them and Ashton smiled at me. Wait. Did I just see right? I smiled back hesitantly and gave Stacy a questioning look. What the hell was going on?
"Okay, so it was nice talking to you. See you Friday night, right?" Ashton asked.
"Yeah, of course." Stacy said. After he waved at us and walked away, I pulled Stacy closer to me and whispered, "What is going on? Why was he talking to you, I thought he was in the bad boy clan? And where are you going on Friday?"
"Geez, one question at a time, Lexie." Stacy said with a laugh. "No need to worry, he seems like a great guy nothing like his friend. So, I was walking to your locker to wait on you when he accidentally bumped into me. I thought he was going to be a dick about it, but he surprised me by actually saying sorry and then we started talking. He told me he was keeping a party on Friday night and he would like you, me and Sam to attend." She said in a rush.
"What?! Are you crazy? You know I don't go to parties and wait, he actually mentioned me?!" I asked incredulously.
"Yeah. I asked him why his friend behaved like that the other day and he said that Josh is just going through a rough time right now and he was sorry for his friend's behaviour. He actually gave Joshua an earful about it already. He, inviting us, is like some sort of peace offering." Stacy said trying to reason with me.
I was just about to answer Stacy when Samantha walk up to us.
"Hey guys, what's up?" She greeted.
"Stacy here accepted an invitation to Ashton Dyer's party on Friday." I said giving Stacy a look.
"Are you crazy?!" Sam whisper-yelled. I glad someone else saw the insanity of Stacy's actions.
"That's what I said but she just doesn't listen." I said throwing my hands up in the air.
"Guys, how bad could it be? When last have you been to a party huh? Never!" She looked at both of us, "Come on, this is our last year of high school, why don't we go to a party and have fun for once?"
I looked at her and sighed, "I suppose you're right, after all I was the one that said I wanted to enjoy my senior year."
Stacy pump her fist in the air, "You are the best. What about you, Sam?"
Sam shook her head and smile, "I knew I made a mistake by being friends with you crazy guys."
"Awww. I will take that as a compliment." Stacy said, grinning from ear to ear. I smile at them and start to get my English book from my locker. I love English and I'm so glad I have it with my two friends. As I was about to close my locker, I felt my phone buzzed in my pocket. I balanced the books in my hands and fished it out of my back pocket. I felt the blood drain from my face when I saw who the text was from. This cannot be happening.
Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!
The books fell from my hands as my knees felt weak and I felt light headed all of a sudden. I rest my head against my locker as I tried to keep myself upright. I felt like the room was spinning and I tried to control my racing heart. Oh no. He can't be back. He just can't.
"Are you okay, Lexie?" Samantha asked me with a look of concern on her face.
Stacy came over to me and took the phone from my hands. She look at the screen and her face was filled with shock also.
"What is it? What's wrong?" Sam looked from me to Stacy and back to me. I looked at her. Should I tell her? The only person that knows about what happened is Stacy. Not even my parents knew.
I took a deep breath, of course I tell her. She has become my best friend and I could never leave her in the dark like that. However, before I could say anything, the bell rang signaling the beginning of class.
"Come on we are going to be late for class. I will tell you at lunch okay?" I said as soon as I get back my voice.
She looked at me hesitantly, but nodded and we head to class.
As I walked to class the text kept replaying in my head over and over like a bad nightmare....
Hey, babe. Miss me? Don't worry, you will see me soon. - Troy
