Bobby was baffled. He scratched his head, not knowing what he did wrong. Millie looked at Mona and said seriously, “Bobby made someone cry again today. He received five small red flowers again because every teacher gave him one. Johnny wasn’t happy about it because he used to be the one who gets five flowers, so he cried sadly. Mommy, don’t you think Bobby isn’t humble at all?” Although Millie was complaining, she sounded proud. Mona was relieved, and she pinched her daughter’s chubby little face. Millie was not complaining about Bobby. She was showing off that she had such an awesome brother. Bobby beamed as well. He was shy from being praised. Thaddeus leaned against his car and crossed his long legs. He looked casual and easy. He stared at Mona and the two children from afar. This was his first time seeing the glow of motherhood on Mona’s face. Thaddeus could tell that Mona liked children very much. She had been compromising with him all these years for her two kids.
